Councils across the UK Help Local Residents to Beat Rising Fuel Bills, by Going ‘Green’ with the Heat Project

Many councils across the UK will be encouraging local residents to lock out the cold and save up to £365 a year on fuel bills, by turning their homes into energy efficient havens, over the coming months. With the help of the long running, UK wide, Enact managed Heat Project, householders, private tenants and residential landlords, will be informed of the grants available to help them install loft and cavity wall insulation into their homes, through the means of a targeted mail shot campaign.

The most vulnerable residents, such as those in receipt of an income or disability related benefit, will also learn that they may qualify for a grant that covers the entire cost of installing cavity wall and loft insulation into their home.

At a time when we could all do with saving a few extra pounds, Local Authorities across the UK are encouraging the communities in their area to take advantage of opportunities that will help them save money; and with the Heat Project, a scheme endorsed by over 30 Local Authorities across England, people can also reduce their carbon emissions and their impact on climate change.

Combined, loft and cavity wall insulation can stop over half the heat produced by a central heating system in the home, from being lost through the walls and roof of the property, in turn preserving warmth and money within a household, through ‘green’ action. Installing cavity wall insulation can incur an annual carbon saving of up to 800kg, with loft insulation enabling a household to save up to a tonne of carbon every year! The Heat Project therefore provides an excellent way to radically improve green credentials, and reduce the impact had on climate change, a burning issue for all of us at present.
Mailings designed to educate households about the Heat Project insulation scheme, commenced across the UK on the 19th January, and will continue for several months, until the end of May.
