Enact CAN Help Shape an Energy Efficient Future

Official unveiling of the Carbon Action Network (CAN) took place at the renowned, formerly labelled National Home Energy Conference, held this year on the 14th and 15th May at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds. Among the attendees uniting to scrutinise the costs and consequences of climate change were representatives from the multi award winning energy consultancy, Enact.

The popular conference, often rated the most important industry event of the year, brought together Local Authorities, housing associations, energy consultancies, utility companies and other organisations fundamentally intertwined with domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty. The conference considered the challenges presented by recently amended Government CO2 targets, and the implications of a transition towards a green economy following established Government commitment to such a path during Alistair Darling’s recent Budget announcement.

The first conference to fall under UK HECA’s new identity encompassed a broader remit than in previous years, touching on areas such as planning, transport and waste management, as well as those more traditionally emphasised; in turn accounting for previously overlooked contributory factors adding to the plight of climate change.

Enact has regularly attended and exhibited at the Home Energy Conference, since developing a close relationship with HECA more than 11 years ago. This, following the inception of the Enact managed Heat Project, which enables councils to meet their HECA requirements with minimum effort by providing UK residents with grant-assisted cavity wall and loft insulation, to radically improve home energy efficiency.

The expanding focus of UK HECA, reflected in the name change to CAN, coincides with Enact’s continued growth and development within the industry, and the company’s commitment to collaboration with key players shaping an energy efficient future.

Enact has invested heavily in this rapidly developing industry since the birth of the Heat Project, and latest advancements include last year securing a pioneering and now award winning partnership with Tesco to manage the Tesco Home Insulation Service.

Enact values the huge significance of its close association with CAN and the united effort required to meet Government environmental targets set within the domestic sector. Enact was able to promote its most recent projects and developments including infra-red technology to help hard-to-treat properties, and reflect on the company’s rapid expansion at this year’s event, and once again demonstrate commitment to Enact’s role in the fight against climate change.
